Are we waiting for insulated all-wheel drive Chinese crossovers with an automatic transmission instead of a robot?
Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui made a rather unexpected statement during the second Russian-Chinese Automotive Forum. He said that China is ready to develop cars specifically for Russia.
“ China is willing to continuously develop models that meet the needs of the Russian market, ensure first-class quality, provide high-quality services, and promote the integration of the two countries' automotive production and supply chains, ” Zhang Hanhui said.
At the same time, the ambassador expressed hope that Russia will support the Chinese automobile industry. In particular, it talks about making it easier for Chinese companies to produce, sell and operate in Russia.
If Chinese companies really strive to sell in Russia (a recent example is the entry of Sinomach Automobile into the domestic market), then the same cannot be said about the organization of production sites. In fact, the only full-cycle plant that currently produces Chinese cars in Russia is the Great Wall Motor enterprise, whose assembly line produces Haval SUVs. In all other cases, the Chinese follow the path of least resistance, choosing already existing production sites like Avtotor.
