After extensive research, experts from the automotive portal HotCars compiled a rating of the most reliable Japanese cars in the history of the automotive industry.

HotCars analyzed Japanese car models and their J.D. quality and reliability ratings. Power over the past two decades. Additional data was considered, such as annual maintenance costs (from RepairPal), 10-year maintenance costs (from CarEdge), and recall information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Consumer reviews from KBB and Edmunds were also used for additional information. Used car prices were obtained from KBB. The following models have been ranked according to JD Power's quality and reliability ratings.

The 2014 Toyota Camry took first place in the reliability rating. This popular business sedan received a score of 92 points out of 100 possible. Owners of this model spend an average of about $387 per year on maintenance.

In second place in the ranking is the 2022 Lexus IS — a compact sedan with reliability also at 92 points out of 100 possible. The average annual cost of its maintenance is approximately $551.

The 2019 Toyota Corolla took third place with the same reliability rating. The average maintenance cost for its owners is about $381.
