The cars went on a big race from Munich (Germany) to Arjeplog (Sweden)
BMW published a 5-minute video on YouTube in which it showed the race of the latest pre-production BMW M5 and BMW M5 Touring on public roads: from the German Munich to the Swedish Arjeplog — 2.5 thousand km.
During the video, the testers told us something about the cars. For example, the use of a hybrid power plant has been confirmed — the car owner will be able to choose the appropriate operating mode (purely electric, hybrid or only internal combustion engine). The cars have all-wheel drive.
The testers noted that the purpose of such a large race was to check the performance of all systems, as well as test the cars in the rather harsh conditions of northern Sweden, where there is a lot of snow and ice on the roads. A small part of the race took place on the ice of a frozen lake.
BMW chose not to reveal the design of pre-production cars ahead of time, so the car was «wrapped» in camouflage The video is called Episode 1 — there will be a second series. The official premiere of the BMW M5 and BMW M5 Touring is expected soon. According to preliminary data, the cars will receive a power plant from the BMW XM with a capacity of more than 700 hp
