iPhone 16 Pro Max will receive a battery with increased energy density

It will have to be additionally cooled

Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a battery with increased energy density.

This will allow Apple to increase autonomy while maintaining the old battery size, or to maintain autonomy at the old level by making the battery more compact.

We don’t yet know what the new battery will be like, but it’s worth remembering that the iPhone 16 Pro Max itself will be larger than its predecessor due to the larger display. Interestingly, the increased energy density, Kuo says, will lead to an increase in battery temperature during operation. To avoid battery overheating, Apple is using a stainless steel battery case as a thermal solution for the first time. Stainless steel doesn't dissipate heat as efficiently as aluminum, but it is stronger and less susceptible to corrosion, so a stainless steel battery case not only dissipates heat, but also provides better protection for the battery and iPhone system.

In addition, the use of a stainless steel battery case reduces the difficulty of removing the battery, which will help Apple comply with European Union requirements for mobile phone battery replaceability in the future.
