But iPad and Mac computers have not yet been affected by the change
Apple has amended its repair and warranty policies for Apple Watch and iPhone. From now on, the standard warranty does not cover «single microcracks» on Apple Watch and iPhone screens.
Under the previous version of the policy, if a small crack appeared on the display of your device, Apple would send it for repair, provided there was no other visible damage. Thus, minor cracks were covered by the warranty provided the product body was intact.
Now, various sources have reported an updated policy sent by Apple to company stores and service centers. Repair providers will now not accept Apple Watches and iPhones with hairline cracks under warranty and will write off the claim as accidental damage. For users, this results in having to pay for repairs themselves, unless there is an extended AppleCare+ warranty.
For now, the policy change only affects the Apple Watch and iPhone, but may expand to other devices in the future. For now, Apple continues to address hairline cracks on iPads and Macs as part of its standard warranty.
