Ubisoft's new competitive shooter, XDefiant, is making waves. Despite technical issues, netcode issues, and lack of content, the game launched with great success.

According to Insider Gaming, 7.6 million unique players played in the first week of release.

On May 27, XDefiant had almost 700,000 concurrent registered players players across all platforms, an impressive achievement for the recently launched free-to-play game. These numbers exceed Ubisoft's internal expectations, which expected to reach 5 million unique players in the first month.

XDefiant is available for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, and early reviews have been promising despite criticism over technical issues. Ubisoft San Francisco said it is actively working to resolve the issues and provide ongoing support for the game. This includes promises of new content such as additional maps, new weapons and a new faction to keep the game fresh and interesting for the growing player base.
