The official premiere is expected at the end of this month
BYD published live photos of its new hybrid — a pickup truck the size of a Toyota Hilux. The company intends to introduce the car to foreign markets, so there will be direct competition with Hilux.
The car has a two-row cabin, a brutal front end in the spirit of American pickup trucks of past generations, and a rather short cargo platform. It is expected that the interior will be made in the spirit of the Leopard 5 SUV: it will have two large screens, complemented by a head-up display.
The power plant will include a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors. The maximum range will be 800-1200 km, range on pure electricity — about 100 km. There will also be a non-standard suspension for pickups, but what exactly is still unknown. The official premiere of the BYD pickup truck is expected at the Beijing Auto Show at the end of this month.
Recall that at the beginning of the year, BYD introduced a lot of new and much cheaper models to the Chinese market, which is why it unleashed the next stage of price wars. Other automakers have been forced to cut prices to avoid losing customers. So, in response to the actions of BYD Xiaomi rewrote the prices for its Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan even before the cost of the car was made public.
