The result was 7 minutes 45.59 seconds

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N tested by Sport Auto managed to lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7 minutes 45.59 seconds, confirming that the electric car is indeed designed to go fast, as the manufacturer claims.

The lap was recorded as part of the famous Sport Auto test with Christian Gebhardt behind the wheel and was fitted with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres. Although the Ioniq 5 N didn't set the production car lap record for an electric vehicle, the 7:45.59 was very respectable.

It put the Ioniq 5 N in the same area as the 2019 Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Coupe, which clocked a time of 7:44.13. At the same time, the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4Matic+ Estate showed a result of 7:45.19 according to the results of Sport Auto tests.

The Ioniq 5 N is powered by an 84 kWh battery pack driving a pair of electric motors with a total output of 601 hp. in the regular model or 641 hp. with N Grin Boost mode enabled. The car can accelerate to 96 km/h in 3.25 seconds. Gebhardt drove it with the exhaust sounds on — this is one of the features of the machine.
