But it is very expensive
Skaters have a new way to move without having to use leg power. A Spanish startup went to Kickstarter with an unusual device called REM.
The REM isn't very easy to describe in words, but it's sort of like a powered paddle. Or an analogue of a witch's broom, only in a technological style. The easiest way to evaluate the device is by video and photographs.
As you can see, this is actually a stick with a battery, an electric motor and a wheel. And it allows the skater to move without any additional effort.
Of course, there are electric skateboards that themselves have an electric motor, but they are designed for movement, not tricks. Here you can ride a regular skateboard, which is used for its intended purpose, and then take the REM and go about your business without wasting extra energy. By the way, REM is also great for roller skates.
REM is equipped with a 3 kW motor and allows you to reach speeds of up to 40 km/h, but due to its design it is highly dependent on the surface. The power reserve is promised to be more than 20 km. It is also worth noting the folding design.
Unfortunately, REM costs a lot. Even within the framework of a fundraising campaign, you will have to pay from 800 euros, and the retail price will supposedly be 1200 euros. Deliveries are expected to begin at the end of the year.
