And the car is completely new, and the power plant too
The Chinese resource Autohome published the first images of the brand new Mazda6 — a car built on the Changan platform and presumably with an electric powertrain. There are renderings and photos of a live car in camouflage. According to preliminary data, the car will be called Mazda EZ-6.
The sedan is made in the recognizable Mazda style, but the rear part is designed in a new way and looks much more modern than the current “six”.
What’s interesting is that the collaboration between Mazda and Changan will not be limited to one model! It turns out that after the launch of the J90A (which is the code designation for the Mazda EZ-6), a crossover will appear. The vehicle codes (J90K and J90K-REEV) indicate two power plants — traditional and electric. The crossover is expected in 2025, and two more cars will appear in 2026.
In general, the two companies have a lot of plans, but it is not yet clear how the new models fit into Mazda’s global strategy — it is possible that all new products on the Changan platform will be sold only in China.
