It will carry out research work on the study and use of the Moon
The international scientific lunar station is going to be fully built by 2036, said Sergei Savelyev, Deputy General Director of Roscosmos for International Cooperation. Let us recall that on May 28, 2024, the State Duma of the Russian Federation ratified an agreement with the Chinese government on the creation of a Russian-Chinese lunar station, 12 countries have already joined the project.
According to Savelyev, the creation of the lunar station is planned to be completed by 2036, and research work on the study and use of the Moon will be carried out there. They are going to use a nuclear power plant at the station; its development in Russia has already begun.
It is expected that as part of the lunar program, Chinese automatic stations «Chang'e-7» and «Chang'e-8» to test key technologies. Based on them, a research complex will then be built, which can be controlled remotely. In the meantime «Chang'e-6» returns to Earth with soil samples collected from the far side of the Moon.
