Previously, the manufacturer transferred the company «Mir-Distributor» documents necessary to obtain vehicle type approval (VTA), including European vehicle test reports according to UNECE rules. But some of the tests had to be carried out according to Russian standards, in accordance with the requirements of the technical regulations of the Customs Union (TR CU) of the Eurasian Economic Union. The tests have been passed, an application has been submitted for obtaining OTTS for this model for the market of the EAEU countries.
«We are very careful in choosing cars that are officially launched on a particular market, and we select only proven models that meet the requirements of the technical regulations of the Customs Union and have the opportunity to obtain OTTS on this basis. For example, despite the fact that the newest version of the MG5 (or MG GT) recently appeared, only the previous generation MG5 (AP31) can be delivered to Russia. These machines have long been familiar to consumers, are sold in different countries, including European ones, and have proven themselves well. While the MG GT cannot be allowed for circulation according to the CU TR, since the manufacturer has not tested it to obtain European protocols according to UNECE rules and does not plan to do so in the near future. Accordingly, it is impossible to obtain OTTS for the MG GT, and after October 1, 2023, it can only be imported into the Russian Federation by individuals through the registration of OTTS», — explained the director of marketing and advertising of LLC «Mir-Distributor» Daria Sapunova.
In addition to the MG 5 sedan, which is already in demand not only among private buyers, but also among corporate clients, including taxi companies, the MG 6 liftback, as well as the MG HS and MG ZS crossovers are undergoing certification.
