We should really expect GeForce RTX 50 video cards this year.
Nvidia hasn't said anything officially yet, of course, but video card makers are reportedly expecting a new generation of adapters to appear in the fourth quarter. Companies are expected to focus primarily on the top-end RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 cards, since Nvidia is always the first to introduce such models.
It is unclear when exactly to expect the announcement, but it turns out that not earlier than October. If Nvidia does the same as before, the conditionally available RTX 5060 will have to wait much longer.
Recall that the RTX 5090 is now credited with a GB202 GPU with 24,576 CUDA cores, as well as a 512-bit bus and GDDR7 memory. Given the 28 GHz frequency of this memory, the throughput will reach an impressive 1.8 TB/s, which is 80% more than the RTX 4090. This alone can make the card significantly faster than its predecessor.
