The Blue Innovations Group (BIG) R30 motor yacht has been unveiled, making its first public appearance this weekend.
The yacht was launched on December 16 in St. Petersburg, Florida, where the company is based. According to John Waugh, founder and CEO of BIG, the yacht will provide “an unparalleled sailing experience.” Before heading to the high seas, Waugh was Tesla's head of manufacturing.
The nine-meter electric yacht is equipped with a 221 kWh battery that weighs 10,000 pounds (4536 kg) and powers two motors with a total output of 800 hp, which allows the boat to reach a specified maximum speed 72 km/h. In addition, the yacht has the ability to charge from solar panels.
Interested R30 buyers can reserve the boat for $1,000. The Blue Innovations Group (BIG) R30 is priced at $300,000.
Production of the yacht should begin in the third quarter of 2024.
