A 1936 Bugatti Type 57 Ventoux coupe is up for auction at Bring a Trailer, where bidding has already topped $100,000 four days before the auction closes. At the same time, the car is in very poor condition and requires large investments.
In 1936, a Bugatti Type 57 Ventoux with chassis number 57364 was ordered by circus director and trainer Roger Spiesser, but the car changed hands twice in the first couple of years. In the 50s, the car was found abandoned in Paris, from where it was transported to the USA.
From 1934 to 1940, about 700 Type 57 units were assembled. This example is equipped with a four-seater body, a 3.3-liter engine and a 4-speed manual transmission.
The body is completely rotten, the car cannot move independently. The engine and almost all interior elements have been removed, the brakes are not connected. Some details are missing.
Why do they want to buy a car for more than 100,000 dollars? The fact is that such Bugatti Type 57 in excellent condition are valued at millions of dollars.
