The recent Fallout 4 update hasn't been much fun for the community. Digital Foundry also dived into this to figure it all out.
Bethesda Game Studios recently presented the long-awaited next-generation update for Fallout 4. Players were not delighted with the quality of the work done.
Dissatisfied people began to look for a way remove the Fallout 4 next-gen patch and as a result, mods that allow you to get rid of it are among the top most popular modifications on Nexus Mods.
Digital Foundry specialists decided to study this update for Fallout 4 – they were not pleased with it either, but they still managed to find positive aspects.
To sum up the situation with the PC version, it is a disappointment on several levels.
- Formally, the game now has official support for ultra-wide displays, but in practice the implementation is incorrect – interface elements are simply stretched and not scaled; Sometimes visual errors may be noticed.
- After the release of this patch, some modifications for Fallout 4 disappeared. Judging by the observations of Digital Foundry, this update did not fix the main problems that were found at the time of release – that is, nine years ago. The game still crashes on PCs with GeForce RTX graphics cards when using the “Gunshot Fragments” graphics option.
- Maximum FPS in Fallout 4 is 60 frames per second; Breaking through this “ceiling”, as before, is possible only with the help of modifications.
Things are not the best with Fallout 4 on consoles either way. For example, in the Xbox Series X|S version, for some reason, players were left without a 30 FPS mode. Bethesda support explained that in Performance and Quality modes the target is 60 frames. Performance mode is simply more aggressive in reducing settings to achieve 60 FPS.
Digital Foundry made a comparison and opined that on the Xbox Series X|S the mode switch is simply does not function.
On the PlayStation 5 the situation is more positive. Graphics quality hasn't improved significantly when compared to the PS4 Pro version of Fallout 4. Nevertheless, the effect of this patch is noticeable, since previously the game worked only at 30 FPS.
