The thickness is 5.1 mm
Apple introduced updated iPad Pro models based on the Apple M4 single-chip system and with Ultra Retina XDR OLED displays.
The new iPad Pro has a thinner body and screens with a diagonal of 11 and 13 inches. The thickness of the 11-inch model is 5.3 mm, and the 13-inch model — only 5.1 mm. Apple notes that this makes the new iPad Pro the thinnest Apple product ever.
The new iPad Pro has an improved thermal design with graphite sheets in the main body and copper in the Apple logo, and the 12-megapixel front-facing camera has been moved to the side. Apple says it provides improved picture quality, particularly for video calls. The tablet is equipped with TrueTone adaptive flash for better document scanning. The main camera now supports ProRes video recording and Smart HDR 4.
The Ultra Retina XDR OLED display uses two panels in a tandem design to deliver even greater full-screen brightness: up to 1,000 nits in normal mode, and up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness in HDR mode. The display delivers deeper blacks, more shadow and low-light detail, brighter highlights and improved brightness, and handles moving content more accurately.
The Apple M4 SoC is built on second-generation 3nm technology and features a new display engine, and supports Mesh Shading and hardware-accelerated ray tracing. Processor performance is 50% faster than the Apple M2 in the previous iPad Pro, while rendering performance is quadrupled.
iPad Pro is made from 100% recycled aluminum. It comes in Silver and Space Black.
11-inch model starts at $999, and the 13-inch — from $1,299. It is available to order starting today and goes on sale next week.
