The power of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is now available in the non-flagship SoC Dimensity 8300. MediaTek has announced the most powerful platform in the segment

Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 is no longer a record holder

Xiaomi today nominally presented the Redmi K70E smartphone equipped with the Dimensity 8300-Ultra SoC, and MediaTek presented, in fact, the Dimensity 8300 itself, only the regular one – without the Ultra prefix.

Xiaomi has already boasted that the Dimensity 8300-Ultra will score about 1.5 million points in AnTuTu. Considering past versions of Dimensity Ultra, the differences between the Dimensity 8300-Ultra and the regular Dimensity 8300 are likely to be minimal, which means that the latter will also be incredibly powerful, given that it is not a flagship solution.

Interestingly, all this performance is realized without supercores in the CPU. The configuration in this case includes four Cortex-A715 cores, divided into two clusters (one and three cores) and four Cortex-A510, just the frequencies are very high compared to the average for these cores: 3.35 (3 GHz of the second cluster of three cores) and 2.2 GHz respectively. In comparison with Dimensity 8200, as MediaTek itself assures, the CPU has become 20% more productive and 30% more energy efficient.

The GPU received a much more significant increase: as much as 60%. Now this is Mali-G615 MC6.

The new platform supports 320-megapixel cameras, 180 Hz Full HD+ or 120 Hz WQHD+ screens, Wi-Fi 6E, LPDDR5X-8533 memory and UFS 4.0, and the modem offers data transfer speeds of up to 5.17 Gbps. The new platform will be produced according to 4 nm standards.
