At least in the USA
The chief engineer of the Toyota Land Cruiser (in the USA this is the name of the Land Cruiser Prado 250) and Toyota 4Runner Ketia Moritsu said that the Land Cruiser will not have particularly off-road versions of the TRD Pro/Trailhunter with increased ground clearance and reinforced suspension, like the new Toyota 4Runner or Toyota Tundra. And this is explained by the fact that the Land Cruiser — «its own individuality».
«At the moment, Land Cruiser — This is a Land Cruiser, it has its own personality. Land Cruiser — This is a car that is loved all over the world. This is a car that has been honed on the most rugged and dangerous roads, so in that sense it is an unrivaled, unrivaled, unique car. We want to be able to convey to customers the pride that they have in driving this vehicle, and that will be their Land Cruiser experience, the trust, the confidence, the faith that they put in this vehicle », — Ketia said to Moritz.
At the same time, the engineer noted that it would be more appropriate to create hardcore off-road versions for the new 4Runner and Tacoma, as well as the Tundra.
The fact that the Land Cruiser/Land Cruiser Prado 250 will not have particularly off-road versions may disappoint many, but this does not mean that the car cannot be turned into an extreme SUV on its own — for example, by contacting a tuning studio. In the end, there is an alternative in the form of the Lexus GX550 Overtrail, which is equipped with a reinforced suspension and 33-inch tires as standard.
