It will be able to take high-resolution images and perform stereoscopic shooting to create 3D models

According to Roscosmos, the first modernized Earth remote sensing satellite (ERS) from the «Resurs-PM» will be launched into orbit in 2025. New spacecraft «Resurs-PM» will replace the Resurs-P satellites that are currently in use. Thus, in 2024 it is planned to launch the «Resurs-P» No. 4, and in 2025 — «Resurs-P» No. 5. Then new «Resurs-PM» with improved characteristics: they will have a shooting resolution of 0.4 m, while the camera of the device «Resurs-P» shoots with a resolution of only 1 m.

Data from such devices is used to compile and edit maps, monitor the environment and search for potential mineral deposits. «Resurs-PM», in addition, will be able to detect the launch and flight of rockets, detect and identify space debris, and can also be used as a telescope. The new satellite is equipped with an RPC polynomial (a tool for increasing accuracy and speeding up data processing) and has stereoscopic imaging capabilities to create three-dimensional models.

Roscosmos also said that the second radar spacecraft «Condor-FKA», which can conduct all-weather and round-the-clock monitoring of the Earth, including the Arctic region, will be launched into orbit already this year year (the first such device was launched in May last year). Two more such satellites will be launched in 2029–2030. In addition, the production of the remote sensing radar satellite «Obzor-R» is being completed.
