Jaecoo, Chery's sub-brand specifically designed for overseas markets, is expected to enter the UK market in the summer of 2024. The petrol Jaecoo J7 is already on sale in Russia, and a hybrid version was presented at the Beijing Motor Show.
It was also announced that the new car could arrive in the UK in June 2024 with an estimated starting price of £40,000. In addition, pre-orders for the model will start in Malaysia, where sales will begin in the third quarter.
The appearance of the Jaecoo J7 is the same as the Chery Tansuo 06. The main difference is that the Chery letter logo on the front grille is replaced with the Jaecoo logo. The dimensions of the 2024 Chery Tansuo 06 are 4538 x 1898 x 1680 mm with a wheelbase of 2672 mm. The Jaecoo J7 is expected to have the same size. The car features hidden door handles and five-spoke wheels, as well as a panoramic sunroof.
Power comes from a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 1.6 liter internal combustion engine and two electric motors. The internal combustion engine has a maximum power of 194 hp. and peak torque of 290 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 8 seconds. Seven driving modes are supported. The total range is 1200 km, and the range is purely electric — approximately 100 km.
Interior features a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, a 14.8-inch vertical center control screen and a D-shaped steering wheel. Equipment includes Advanced Driving Assistance Level 2, which includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and blind spot detection. The car received heated seats, seat ventilation and a cooling function on the center console.
