PlayStation games that come out on PC usually come with a number of features to make the game look its best. Horizon Forbidden West also falls into this group.

Digital Foundry recently analyzed the port and noted that Horizon Forbidden West lacks ray tracing. Michel Rosa, the programmer responsible for optimization at Nixxes Software, gave an interview along with several other developers in which he said that adding ray tracing was considered, but it was difficult to implement.

“Given the number of hours of filming and the scale, we thought the game looked very good, it had a clear direction, and we really didn't want contact her.”

You should hardly be surprised by these words, because Horizon Forbidden West is a huge project, Guerilla Games decided not to implement this effect . Therefore, one of the original developers, Jeroen Krebbers, also spoke out in an interview.

“There is a lot of content here, maybe 100 square kilometers or more, and we would have to go through the entire game…. This is absolutely amazing… Of course, the scalability between PS4 and PS5 meant that we wanted to focus on things that would work on both PS4 and PS5, which unfortunately excluded RT. And it's not that easy to add to the PC version. Of course, we really like this technology.”
