WhatsApp has discovered support for “third-party chats” – it will soon be possible to communicate with users of Telegram, Signal and even Viber

The popular messenger WhatsApp team is actively working on a new feature that will ensure compatibility with third-party messaging platforms. Thematic resource WABetaInfo discovered a hidden third-party chats section in the latest beta version of WhatsApp. 

In the new section, WhatsApp users will be able to communicate with users of competing instant messengers, such as Telegram and Discord, Signal and Viber.

The innovation is being developed in accordance with the requirements of the European Union for the mutual compatibility of instant messengers, which will become mandatory in the spring of 2024. The exact launch dates for the new feature are still unknown.
