BYD aims to surpass Volkswagen, Tesla and Stellantis by 2030 and become the largest seller of new energy vehicles in Europe. This was stated by Shu Yuxin, general manager of the European sales department of BYD cars.

Shu Yuxing said BYD is preparing to «make huge investments in the EU», which could reach billions of euros, including factories, distribution networks and marketing. Shu Yuxin said that BYD will introduce low-cost electric cars based on the Seagull model to the European market, the price of which should be less than 20,000 euros.

BYD began selling cars in Europe in 2021, initially in Norway. Last year the company sold 15,644 electric vehicles in the European region. This gave BYD a 1.1% share of the European electric vehicle market, according to global data firm DataForce.

Early this year, BYD Explorer No. 1  transported 4,060 new cars to Europe. Over the next two years, BYD will introduce seven more similar ro-ro vessels, which will use BYD's battery technology and shaft generator system.

Earlier, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, stated that Brussels expects Beijing to voluntarily reduce the export of subsidized products. Otherwise, the EU will be forced to take tough economic measures.

In the next two to three years, Toyota is going to release several new models that will be built on the BYD PHEV DM-i hybrid platform.
