Dragon's Dogma 2 looks like a radical departure from standard single-player RPGs. One example is the nightmarish Sphinx, which will require the player to solve riddles not with words, but with actions.
Game director Hideaki Itsuno and lead game designer Kento Kinoshita told how the meeting with the monster works. Players will make their way through dungeons in search of chests containing an item that will help solve a specific puzzle. If you give Sfix the wrong reward, then you should not expect a reward from him.
Itsuno says that many mysteries await dedicated adventurers:
“We We wanted to make the question of whether or not it could be defeated or even fought be a mystery, and we wanted that to be part of the enjoyment that players would have from interacting with the Sphinx and its riddles. Players will first have to find the Sphinx themselves if they can. The journey to it may be the biggest mystery yet.”
