BYD announced at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show that the extremely popular Denza D9 minivan is entering the European market. It will be the brand's first model officially introduced in the region.
This is a brand created by the Chinese automaker BYD and Mercedes in 2010. The joint venture was initially 50:50, but the German luxury brand reduced its stake to 10% in 2021 when Denza underwent a restructuring.
At the beginning of the year, BYD announced that the Denza D9 has become the best-selling minivan in the Chinese market across all price categories, with cumulative sales of 119,182 units from January to December 2023.
Denza D9 goes on sale in October 2022. Last January, it won the luxury MPV category with a price tag of over $42,000. Officials said that cleared the way for the full 2023 title to be won. Last October, it became the fastest luxury minivan to reach 100,000 units.
Officials also said that the Denza D9 «single-handedly reversed the downward trend in the minivan market since 2017».
Dimensions BYD Denza D9 — 5250 x 1960 x 1920 mm, wheelbase — 3100 mm. The equipment includes seven screens, separate seats on the second row with electrical adjustments, ventilation, heating and massage, 50-watt wireless charging for a smartphone.
