Ford has announced that 2024 Mustang buyers have a new factory option that gives the car a matte finish.
This is not paint, but a matte film (Matte Clear Film), which is applied to a body painted in any color, resulting in a smooth matte surface.
«Mustang has been committed to driving freedom and freedom of expression for 60 years, and our new matte clear film gives customers a whole new way to make the Mustang theirs», — said Mustang program chief engineer Laurie Transu.
As for the Dark Horse version, the Matte Clear Film option requires the removal of the hood accent stripe.
This option adds $6,000 to the price of the car, and Ford says the film can be removed later, but such actions should only be performed by a professional service.
The Matte Clear Film option will be available to order starting February 27th. Deliveries of the coupe will begin in June. Convertibles will arrive in dealerships in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Last fall, Tesla began covering Model 3 and Model Y with film for $7,500 –8,000.
