Instead of a conventional gasoline engine, the Tank 500 Urban has a hybrid power plant
The range of SUVs of the Tank brand in Russia will be replenished with the Tank 500 Urban model in 2024: today the Russian office of Haval officially announced such a version. Sales will begin in the first quarter of 2024, but there are no prices yet.
But images have been published and characteristics revealed. The easiest way to distinguish the Tank 500 Urban from the regular petrol Tank 500 is by the trunk door: in the new version, the spare wheel is mounted on the rear door. And for good reason: firstly, a place was required to place the traction battery, and secondly, the Urban version — 7-seater.
3-liter engine with 299 hp. gave way to a turbocharged 2-liter engine with 245 hp. It is complemented by an electric motor with a power of 54 hp. — it is integrated into the 9-speed automatic transmission. As a result — still the same 299 hp as the gasoline version, but the torque is much more — 616 N·m versus 500 N·m for the purely gasoline version.
Another plus of the hybrid — reduced consumption: according to official data, the average Urban consumption will be 8.5 liters — 3 liters less than an SUV with a V6 engine.
All-wheel drive in the Urban version is realized using a clutch that connects the front wheels. There will be cross-axle differential locks and a reduction range in the transmission. In other words, the all-wheel drive system is the same as in the Tank 300 City.
