Sales will begin on August 7
Sony has introduced a special adapter that will allow you to connect the PlayStation VR2 virtual reality headset to a computer. As Sony notes, this will allow gamers to expand their gaming library with «thousands of Steam VR games».
Starting August 7, 2024, users will be able to purchase the PlayStation VR2 Adapter for PC, which will be available for an estimated retail price of $60 or €60, depending on region. Gamers will also need a DisplayPort cable (sold separately) that is compatible with DisplayPort 1.4.
Minimum requirements for PS VR2 gaming on PC:
- OS: 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11
- Processor: Intel Core i5-7600, AMD Ryzen 3 3100 (Zen 2 architecture or later)
- RAM: 8 GB
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or later (Turing architecture at least), NVIDIA RTX series, AMD Radeon RX 5500XT or newer, AMD Radeon RX 6500XT or newer
- DisplayPort 1.4 (must have a standard DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort output)
- Direct USB connection
- Bluetooth 4.0 or newer
The company explained:
Setup is simple: just connect PlayStation VR2 to your PC using the adapter for your PS VR2 PC and a DisplayPort 1.4 cable. Then download the PlayStation VR2 app and the SteamVR app from Steam. This will allow you to set up your PS VR2 on your PC, configure your settings, and set up your game area, and start buying and playing games on SteamVR.
