Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will return leadership to Qualcomm? Arm is allegedly experiencing problems with the Cortex-X5 supercore

by alex

It should be used in SoC Dimensity 9400

According to recent data, Arm has problems with the Cortex-X5 supercore it is developing.

The problems relate to energy efficiency. Insider Revegnus says that when running at high frequencies, the core consumes too much power, and when limited by the power limit, performance becomes unsatisfactory relative to the current generation.

Of course, Arm still has time, but it is not a fact that it will be able to solve all the problems. At the same time, it is possible that the Cortex-X5 core will only be used by MediaTek. Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, according to current rumors, will switch to Oryon’s own cores, and the new generation Exynos should be that very new Samsung platform, and it may well receive a CPU of the company’s own design. However, there is no exact data about this yet.

But the Dimensity 9400 is expected to receive three Cortex-X4 cores and one Cortex-X5, so for MediaTek the readiness of the new Arm supercore is very important.

Insider Revegnus was the first to publish a photo of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 before its release, and also described the characteristics of the Exynos 2400, which were then confirmed in Geekbench software.
