Motherboards for powerful but compact computers
ASRock has two rather interesting motherboards, on the basis of which you can build a powerful and at the same time compact system. These new items — ASRock Phantom Gaming Z790i Lightning and B760i Lightning. If we do not touch upon the features determined by the chipsets, then the models are almost the same.
Thus, the motherboards received a power subsystem built according to the «14+1+1 phase» scheme, an 8-layer server-level printed circuit board, support for DDR5-8600+ memory (full-size slots, not SO-DIMM).
Since you can’t overclock much within the Mini ITX frame size, there is only one expansion slot — PCIe Gen5 x16 for video card. There are four SATA ports for connecting HDD, for SSD — two M.2 connected to four PCI 4.0 bus lines.
Both models are equipped with a board that implements Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth communications, and there is also a 2.5 Gbps wired network controller Realtek RTL8125BG.
ASRock claims that both motherboards «are significantly ahead of competing ITX products in the same class» from the point of view of the power subsystem. They also feature a composite VRM cooling module with fan.
