But this is almost the same Dimensity 7200 Ultra
The Nothing Phone (2a) smartphone was attributed by various sources to the SoC Dimensity 7200 Ultra. Yesterday the head of the company said that this was wrong, and now Nothing itself has revealed its cards.
Yes, the new product is really not based on the Dimensity 7200 Ultra, but the rumors were almost true. The heart of the Phone (2a) is the Dimensity 7200 Pro. This is a platform created by MediaTek together with Nothing specifically for the new smartphone. There are no details about it yet, but we have already seen similar collaborations, and usually there were practically no differences in such a formally semi-custom SoC from the regular version.
For example, it is known that the Dimensity 7200 Pro has two Cortex-A715 cores and six Cortex-A510. Exactly like Ultra. The 4-nanometer process technology is also the same here. Nothing says the new platform delivers 18% more performance than the Phone (1), which relied on the Snapdragon 778G+, and the new SoC is 16% more energy efficient.
Separately, Nothing introduced Smart Clean technology, which allows the smartphone to regularly clean unorganized fragments of files. This supposedly ensures that the Phone (2a) will work as fast as it did on day one, even after years of use.
Recall that the new smartphone will be presented on March 5th.
