One Reddit user shared information from the leaks. Judging by the published image, Sunset Overdrive 2 and Spider-Man were in development simultaneously in 2014-2015.
But work on the first one was suspended while Spider-Man continued to be developed. Leaks indicate that Insomniac did not make much money from the game.
However, Microsoft retained some rights to the brand after Insomniac bought the PlayStation. Leaks suggest that the next two games may be published by Microsoft.
Since Xbox has not shown any such plans, a new Sunset Overdrive may not come out. But in a hypothetical scenario where Xbox releases two games, PlayStation and Insomniac would be able to continue the franchise in the future since the latter owns the brand.
After selling 2.5 million copies of Spider-Man 2 in one day, the company dedicated itself to the Marvel brand. Among the studio's upcoming major projects are a spin-off of Venom, games about Wolverine and the X-Men.
