While in one part of the USA robot dogs are taken with them to detain criminals, in another they want to use such robots to scare away wild animals. 

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities has purchased a Boston Dynamics robot that will be needed to improve security at airports. The main task of the robot dog named Aurora — constant patrolling of the Fairbanks airport runway and attempts to drive away wild animals and birds from there. 

Department employees do not yet know how exactly animals will react to the robot, but they want to check, among other things, the reaction of large animals, like bears, since the problems of the airport in Alaska — It's not just birds. Last year alone, there were 92 animal attacks on people reported near Alaska airports, according to a Federal Aviation Administration database.

Initially, the airport considered using drones or spraying special aerosols, but these options were considered not safe enough. 

The authors of the idea also explained why they didn’t choose an ordinary dog ​​instead of a robot.
