But Samsung can get orders for low-end SoCs
Despite a number of news about Samsung's success in mastering new technological processes for semiconductor production, Qualcomm and MediaTek have reportedly decided to use only TSMC facilities for their new flagship platforms.
The companies have reportedly chosen TSMC's N3E process for their upcoming SoCs. The same one used to produce new Apple platforms. More precisely, we are talking about at least Dimensity 9400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
Of course, junior solutions from Qualcomm and MediaTek may well be produced at Samsung’s facilities, but much less will be written about this.
TSMC currently produces 60,000 to 70,000 wafers of 3nm chips per month, and that number is expected to rise to 100,000 wafers by the end of next year. Currently, only 5% of the company's revenue comes from the 3 nm process technology, but next year this figure will rise to 10%.
