Samsung is taking a huge leap forward. The company is preparing to announce 290-layer V-NAND memory, followed by 430-layer

Competitors don’t have this yet

Samsung will announce a new generation of NAND memory next month. It will be 9th generation V-NAND with 290 layers.

This will be the most multi-layer NAND memory on the market, but it is not yet known when the first SSDs based on it will appear. It is likely that already this year.

But 290-layer memory is not impressive compared to 430-layer memory, which Samsung will allegedly begin producing next year. There are no exact dates, so drives with such memory may appear either in 2025 or as early as 2026. Most likely, all this new memory will be used only in the most expensive SSDs with PCIe 5.0, that is, such drives will not be available.
