The model is expected to be released in 2026
The head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, confirmed that the plant has finally decided on the final design of the crossover based on the Lada Vesta. Currently, work is underway to localize components for the production of this model.
«We fixed the design and opened tender procedures for our suppliers. We are making leaps and bounds to localize the component base of this car. The horizon for this work is a little longer than that of the Iskra, because this car is practically on a new platform. Yes, it is formed on the basis of the Vesta platform, but nonetheless. But the plus is that this is a completely domestic, AvtoVAZ, our native platform. And in this regard, it is, of course, easier for us to work. Although, of course, it will be a completely different, modern design, — said Sokolov.
The start of production of a crossover based on the Lada Vesta is currently planned for 2026, without specifying a more specific time window.
Maxim Sokolov also confirmed that the new Lada Iskra, which is already being welded and assembled in test mode, is 80% ready.
Prices for Lada cars should be raised in May.
