In the place where the board sometimes cracks
Modern top-segment video cards are almost always very large and heavy. This increases the risk of damage to the card at the connector. Gigabyte has decided to strengthen its adapters by updating the printed circuit boards of some of them.
Versions 1.1 of the GeForce RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 video cards, as well as the RTX 40 Super cards, have a slightly different PCB shape at the connector location. Where there was previously a cutout, now, on the contrary, an additional element has appeared. Apparently, Gigabyte's calculations show that it was the notch that caused the cracks that caused some of the company's cards to suffer.
Of course, you can always use an additional stop, but it is rarely included in the kit, and many ordinary users do not even know about the existence of such accessories.
