Due to delays in deliveries of Russian SJ-100 and MC-21 aircraft, Red Wings returns 20-year-old Airbus A321 to international routes

Flights on these aircraft will be resumed before the end of summer

Two Airbus A321 of Red Wings, which have not flown since 2022, will be put into operation and will begin to be used on international routes: the aircraft are now undergoing the procedure for restoring airworthiness, and at the same time a procedure for settling property rights has been launched with lessors (these are Castlelake and DAE Aviation Capital).

Red Wings stopped flying Airbus in March 2022, but this is not related to sanctions — foreign airliners began to be withdrawn from the company's fleet in connection with a new strategy, which involved a transition to domestic aircraft SJ-100 and MC-21. The airline planned to increase the number of SJ-100s in its fleet from 15 to 60, and a firm contract was signed for 16 MC-21-300s. Currently, deliveries of Russian aircraft have been postponed until at least 2025, the ability to restore the Tu-204 is limited by their actual number, and for the Airbus A320/321 there are spare parts (including for IAE V2500 engines) and trained crews. < /p>
