The Simorgh turboprop model can carry up to 6 tons of cargo

In Iran, flight tests of the transport aircraft «Simorg» (Simorgh), said Iranian Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Support Mohammad Reza Ashtiani at a cabinet meeting. According to him, the tests are being carried out jointly with the country's Civil Aviation Organization, after their completion the aircraft will officially join Iran's air fleet.

Earlier we wrote that the light transport aircraft «Simorg» based on the An-140. It is equipped with a turboprop engine, can reach speeds of up to 530 kilometers per hour and is designed for both cargo and people transportation, the total payload — up to 6 tons.

The Minister noted that «Simorg» produced in Iran, some of its components are supplied from foreign countries. Ashtiani also mentioned that the production of the second aircraft “Simorgh” is currently underway.
