Rosatom Division — fuel company «TVEL» — At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, she agreed to create a production of traction electric drives in the Lipetsk region. Such a drive consisting of an electric motor, gearbox and inverter — it is a key component of electric vehicles. Earlier, the president of JSC «TVEL» mentioned plans to launch such production. Production facilities will be located at the Gryazinskaya site of the special economic zone «Lipetsk». The production is planned to be put into operation in 2025. At the first stage of the project, localized products will be produced, and then they will move on to the production of electric drives of Rosatom's own design.
The creation of a plant in the Lipetsk region will allow us to meet the needs of the growing Russian electric transport market for key components of Russian production. Nuclear industry enterprises are capable of producing about 60% of the key components of an electric vehicle, including batteries, electric motors, composite materials, and various auxiliary auto components.
