Moon Studios CEO Thomas Mahler asked fans to support the team by purchasing the Ori franchise on Steam.

He specifically indicated purchasing on Steam. When the CEO was asked why he didn't mention the game on Xbox platforms, he gave a surprising answer, pointing out a potential downside to Game Pass.

“People who purchase the game on Game Pass are not helping Moon.”

The CEO explained that Game Pass usually benefits smaller teams because entails an advance payment. But Moon Studios doesn't get much benefit from players using Game Pass to play the Ori series. This also explains why many developers remain hesitant about a subscription-based future.

This answer highlights the negative aspects of Microsoft relying on Game Pass to release games from internal studios. Although Starfield attracted millions of players last year, subscriptions may limit profits in the long term.
