Sony Interactive's new strategy aimed at developing the PC market is working. The simultaneous release of Helldivers 2 on PC and PS5 brought incredible commercial results to the game.
Renowned market analyst Matt Piscatella tweeted:
“Sales of Helldivers 2 are so high that it has already become the seventh the most games released by Sony in the entire history of the company.”
It is worth noting that Helldivers 2 would have dropped from seventh place to a much lower position if only PS5 sales were taken into account when calculating the results. Matt Piscatella came to the conclusion that without the PC, Helldivers 2 would not have even entered the top twenty highest-grossing Sony games. Data is based on the US market.
“The release of Helldivers 2 simultaneously on PlayStation 5 and PC can only be regarded as a huge success,” –
This is a clear signal to Sony that releasing games on PC and PS5 at the same time just pays off.
