BMW is going to release many M-Series models in China
BMW began assembling the first M-Series cars in China.
The X1 M35Li was photographed at the Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Auto Show. The new car is said to make its global debut at the 2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Auto Show.
The car will be the first M Performance car to be produced at the BMW Brilliance Plant in Shenyang, and could be built on the same production line as the BMW iX1 and BMW X1. BMW is reported to start producing around 10 models in China in 2024, including the BMW X1 M35Li.
The Chinese version of the BMW X1 M35Li differs from the global one by a wider base (by 110 mm) and a more powerful engine. This is a two-liter B48A20H with a capacity of 335 hp. For comparison, in Europe it produces 300 hp, and in the USA its capacity is increased to 317 hp. As a result, acceleration to 100 km/h takes 5.4 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to the usual mark of 250 km/h.
