In addition to the M-11 “Neva”, they want to launch unmanned trucks along the M-12 “Vostok” and M-4 “Don”
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed the Ministry of Transport to work on the issue of expanding the route network of unmanned cargo transportation on the M-12 «East» and M-4 «Don». In addition, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Finance were instructed to provide additional funding in 2024 for the development of infrastructure for unmanned vehicles on the M-11 «Neva» highway. Departments must report the results to the Government by May 31 of the current year.
Recall that the movement of unmanned trucks is now organized between Moscow and St. Petersburg along the M-11 «Neva» highway; it was launched in the summer of 2023. Several KamAZ trucks and vehicles from «Sberavtotech» for transportation of commercial cargo. For now, there is a test driver in the cabin of each such car to monitor the safety of the trip, and the experiment with completely unmanned control can begin in 2025–2026.
