They oppose expansion of production
A mass protest at the Tesla plant in Grünheide, Germany, turned into riots with the participation of activists. According to Bild, demonstrators broke into the territory of the enterprise. They stormed the enterprise under a red flag with the slogan «Destroy capitalism, create the future!».
According to Bild, about 1,200 activists from different European countries have gathered at the plant since Thursday. They set up a tent camp and demanded to stop plans to expand Tesla's production capacity. To disperse the protesters, significant law enforcement forces were deployed to the site, including hundreds of police officers armed with batons and water cannons.
The Tesla plant in Grünheide is the only one in Europe. It was opened in 2022 and employs 11.5 thousand employees. The company produces about 250 thousand electric vehicles per year. The plant's capacity is planned to be increased fourfold.
In March of this year, production at the plant was already suspended after the arson of a power line pole, which was allegedly behind climate radicals.
