The MTS operator is testing a machine learning platform on third-party devices called “Roy 9”. The situation was noticed in the Kommersant publication.
MTS explained that now the project involves testing “company hypotheses” without plans for a real launch. However, experts see this as an opportunity to save computing power.
As journalists discovered, the MTS RED (Serenity Cyber Security) structure registered the roy9.ru domain on November 1, 2023. According to the description, the company is testing the “Roy 9” product, within which users can rent out the computing power of their devices, including mobile ones, for distributed training of machine learning models.
The Security Code company explained that the project boils down to using the power of third-party devices to train neural networks. Others already use a similar system. MTS assured:
