Lada Sport set nine records

Within the framework of the Zhiguli Mile festival,

From February 7 to 11, the first organized Zhiguli Mile festival was held on the ice of the Kuibyshev Reservoir in Tolyatti, during which the Lada Sport team set nine records. More than 140 participants took part in various competitions, demonstrating their skills in specially prepared or even built from scratch cars.

The participants competed at three different distances: «Baikal Mile» (1642 meters, this is the maximum depth of Baikal), «Zhigulevskaya mile» (1433 meters, equal to the historical length of the main AvtoVAZ conveyor) and an ice oval with a parallel start, where the distance between participants was 381.2 meters, the highest point of the Zhiguli mountains.

Vladimir Sheshenin, driver of the Lada Sport team and current winner of the Race of Champions, set two records in the Formula Lada classification group. Under his leadership, the car «Vesta Sport» accelerated to 192.745 km/h on the «Zhigulevskaya Mile» and up to 192.312 km/h on the «Baikal Mile».

Also on the «Zhigulevskaya Mile» Vladimir Sheshenin drove the raid Niva Sport T2, reaching a speed of 131.764 km/h. On the «Baikal Mile» one of the creators of the raid car, engineer of the Lada Sport racing team Konstantin Gystarov, showed a result of 134.808 km/h.

The head of the Lada Sport racing team, Vladislav Nezvankin, driving the Granta Sport, reached a speed of 173.955 km/h at the Zhigulevskaya Mile. and 171.147 km/h on the «Baikal Mile». Kirill Ladygin driving a prototype station wagon «Vesta SW Sport» accelerated to 165.039 km/h on the «Baikal Mile» and 167.879 km/h on the «Zhigulevskaya Mile».
