Kyivstar will donate 100 million UAH to the APU and cancel the next tariff fee. How exactly will the compensation mechanism work?

by alex

Kyivstar decided to cancel the planned tariff fee for all subscribers, and also allocate an additional 100 million UAH for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – in gratitude to subscribers for their support and trust after the cyber attack, which is called the largest in the history of telecom -industry.

Basic compensation “Kyivstar”

Probably, this is the same “basic compensation” previously announced by the largest operator in Ukraine (out of 24.1 million subscribers). A few days earlier, the operator first offered compensation packages to subscribers in the “My Kyivstar” application, but later clarified that this was only a simple bonus, and the main compensation was still being prepared. In addition to the cancellation of tariff fees, the company announced the allocation of UAH 100 million for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They promise to report in more detail about the intended purpose of the funds over time.

“We are grateful to all our clients, partners, government agencies, especially the SBU, for continuing to support and believe in us in such a critical situation.

On social networks we saw many proposals to redirect personal compensations of clients to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We decided not to choose – compensation or donation. Therefore, in addition to canceling the tariff fee, Kyivstar allocates 100 million UAH for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”

Alexander Komarov,

President of Kyivstar

What about the network and services now

On December 20, the president of Kyivstar, Alexander Komarov, announced that the company had fully resumed the operation of all services after a break as a result of a powerful cyber attack on December 12 – the last resumed service was international roaming. He also noted that Kyivstar drew conclusions after the cyber attack and began implementing updated cyber defense methods in cooperation with the SBU.

Kyivstar says that they continue to stabilize services after a powerful cyber attack in the telecom industry. All major services are currently operating — communications and mobile Internet, SMS, roaming services and others. For business, we have resumed sending SMS and Viber messages to our own customer base via API, access to telephony services with registration using a login and password. Fixed telephony services and LTE-based fixed services are available. Situational difficulties may arise in the operation of these services, but we make every effort to quickly eliminate them.
