“Not a Call of Duty killer”: Ubisoft's XDefiant shooter received 71 points on OpenCritic and Metacritic

The XDefiant shooter finally made it to launch. Some who played are generally satisfied with the result, but not everything is so good

After getting acquainted with XDefiant’s promotional materials, some rushed to classify the Ubisoft shooter as a “Call of Duty killer.” As often happens, the launch did not go very smoothly and reports of problems with the servers began to arrive.

The first reviews of XDefiant recently began publishing – on Metacritic and OpenCritic the project received 71 points out of 100. Metacritic user rating 3.5 out of 10 (gamers note problems with balance and network code).

In general, the shooter was praised, but they still noted that XDefiant lacks “original ideas” that would allow the project to stand out on the market. However, some authors saw some potential in the new product, for example in Kotaku and Pure Xbox – a “bright future” is possible if Ubisoft continues to support and develop the game.

The author of GamingBolt sums it up with the following phrase:

“XDefiant is not a Call of Duty killer or even a close competitor. She has potential despite her many problems, but she has a long way to go before she [“blooms”].”
